This technology has developed at a significant rate in recent decades, and is making possible a whole range of important advances in the way we look after people's health. Behind the technology of medical imagining are a number of important principles of physics, and it is this discipline which has underpinned the advances made in modern health care. This program looks in depth at four kinds of sensing used in medical imaging - Ultrasound, Electromagnetic waves including X-Rays and CAT scans, radioactivity, such as PET or Positron Emission Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging or MRI, which uses electromagnetism.
